General Knowledge Trivia Quiz
What does it mean?
What is the meaning of the word Excalibur, the name of King Arthur’s sword?
Your answer — A) Dragon-doom — was incorrect.
The word is derived from a Latin phrase, Ex calce liberatus, literally meaning “freed from the stone”. The name refers to Merlin the wizard having magically placed the sword in a stone so that only its hilt was protruding. Arthur, as the rightful king of England, was the only person who could withdraw the sword, and so claim the throne.
